CIMB says banking services, customers’ data unaffected

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Bank Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd said it detected some technical issues affecting online credit cards of CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic Bank transactions but now has been resolved. Denying that it had a ransomware attack to its system.

The company assured the public that its core banking system and customer data remains intact.

Customers have complained online to express difficulties with the banking system. Malaysia Airlines first brought the issue to the public’s attention that CIMB is experiencing a technical issue and urged its customers to use other alternative payment methods available. CIMB said it would continue to make necessary steps to ensure a secure banking environment for its customers.
