Malaysia files charges against Goldman Sach execs

KUALA LUMPUR – Criminal charges have been filed against 17 former and current executives of Goldman Sachs following an investigation over a multi billion dollar 1MDB corruption scandal.

Malaysia accused the executives of three Goldman subsidiaries of misleading investor and misappropriating funds of $6.5 billion of bond sales for 1MDB.

The charges were filed under a section of the Malaysian Capital Markets and Services Act and will hold the executives responsible on the illegal acts that may have been committed by the firm.

Malaysia is seeking up to $7.5 billion in reparations from Goldman over its dealings with 1MDB, who the former prime minister Najib Razak chanelled over $700 million to his personal bank account.
