KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s manufacturing activity measured via the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to a four-month high in September.
London-based global information provider IHS Markit said it is the first time since April that the headline index has increased. The country’s manufacturing also showed signs of stabilising global trade growth.
New product launches are expected to increase production volumes over the coming years.
However, darkening geopolitical and trade wars are slowing the business activities around the world, with the US, Europe and China showing increased signs of stress.
The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) is compiled from responses to monthly questionnaires sent to purchasing managers in a panel of around 400 manufacturers.
