JOHOR BARU: On Sunday, a fire broke out in Jalan Nibong 1in the Tanjung Langsat Industrial area near Pasir Gudang that made the twelve chemical factory workers sustained burns.
According to Seri Alam district police chief Supt Ismail Dollah, the fire which happened at around 9.20 am, was completely extinguished by the company’s firefighting unit.
“The incident resulted in 12 workers sustaining burn injuries to their bodies.
“Two of them were treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital here while four were at Pasir Gudang Penawar Hospital.
Another six were given outpatient treatment at Penawar Hospital,” he said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Ismail said.
The fire was extinguished by the factory’s emergency response team without contacting firefighters, according to Johor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Yahya Madis.
“The fire involved several drums of solvent outside the factory and did not involve the structure of the factory,” he said.
