KUCHING: So far this year, the amount of loan repayments received by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is RM1.3bil, chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan said.
“This year, we are aiming for RM2bil in loan repayment, ” he told reporters after the launching of the state-level National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) roadshow yesterday.
Meanwhile, in another development, 4.2 million accounts had been opened under SSPN, with total deposits of RM5bil as of July 31, Wan Saiful said. “In Sarawak, a total of 219,028 SSPN accounts have been opened with total deposits of RM273.25mil, ” he said.
At the event which is also attended by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah, PTPTN handed over RM100 in SSPN-i account savings each to 1,240 as NAF (those eligible to receive zakat) children from 31 parliamentary constituencies.
