Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) has never discussed the appointment of foreign experts as a Board Member of the company.
Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the government’s strategic investment fund company needed individuals who knew about their operations.
“We have held the first Board member of the Board a month ago. There was no discussion on the matter.
“We will continue to talk about candidates. We need a professional team to handle and manage legal affairs, “he said.
He was speaking to the media when met after delivering the keynote address of the Khazanah Megatrends 2018 Forum here today.
On Monday, The Star reported that Khazanah might appoint foreign experts on its board of directors as part of a strategy to diversify expertise.
Citing sources, among the potentials of a Chinese citizen who was the founder of an artificial intelligence company (AI) in China, who also received Alibaba’s support.
Mohamed Azmin added that the government should look into new challenges that existed through strategic development programs related to research and development (R & D) as well as green investments.
“All these things need to be managed by Khazanah.
“With regard to commercial value, we are working with various companies to ensure a positive and positive return,” he
said, adding that the country’s involvement in the development of high technology was amongst the draws of foreign direct investment (FDI).
