Malaysia is known to be a strict nation when it comes insulting royalty, as there have been previous cases of imprisonment towards individuals who have insulted the King in the past.
The regulatory body said an “irresponsible party” had uploaded images that insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Facebook on Thursday (April 11).
The MCMC added that it was sharing information on the matter with the police. It added that if found guilty, a person charged under the Section 233 was liable for a fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both.
