Cambodia bans all flights from Malaysia, Indonesia

PHNOM PENH – Cambodia has banned all flights from Malaysia and Indonesia starting August 1 to boost their fight agains the coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to Health Ministry to Prime Minister Hun Sen the recommendation to temporary ban all flights from both countries came after a discussion by the ministry after recent recording of 23 Covid-19 cases in the country.

The restriction are aim mainly to curb the spread of the pandemic as the country will go into festivity celebrating the four-day Khmer New Year holiday on August 17.

Atleast 108 cases were recorded among the pasenggers of both Malaysia and Indonesian flights.

Malaysia recently confirmed that Cambodia was considered to have a potential as a travel bubble country. These are basically agreements between two countries to allow its residents to enter the country. It will be up to the Covid-19 Committee on when they would resume the flights with the neighbouring countries.
