Coronavirus: No need to panic over face masks, says deputy health minister

POH – The public has been reminded not to engage in sudden panic purchasing of face masks in the wake of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak.

Deputy Health Minister Dr. Lee Boon Chye said people need not be afraid if they do not wear face masks in public places as the virus has so far been contained from spreading to the community.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also assures the public that the government will ensure a sufficient supply of facemask to meet the current high demand for the item.

The local manufacturers and importers have also been advised to in-crease production during a meeting last week.
