Malaysia – A total of 2,646 schools will be suspended on Friday due to the Haze Malaysia situation affecting at least 1.7 million students.
Nearly 300 schools were affected in the smog-hit capital of Kuala Lumpur but Sarawak has the most affected schools at 987followed by Selangor at 939, Penang (399) and Putrajaya (25), The Education Ministry said in a statement.
The decision according to the Ministry was made following the continuous plummeting of air quality in the region.
The Higher Education Department has announced all tertiary institutions in states with API readings of 200 and more to sus-pend all classes as this could put the effect the staff and students’ health.
