Hishammuddin: Malaysia may seek help from China, UAE

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia is in talks with China and UAE for Medical expertise and equipment to help the front liners curb Covid-19 spread.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that the government is in bilateral talks seeking assistance from the two nations to combat the pandemic.

“Wisma Putra has asked the Chinese government to assist us with their medical expertise asap.”

Hishammuddin said  that Malaysian medical expert from all over the country will hold a video conference call with their Chinese counterparts on March 26 to share the best way strategy to lessen the spread of the outbreak.

The ministry is also currently in talks with UAE for the acqusition of ‘critical medical equipment’ to enhance the country’s capability in dealing with the virus.

“We are now in talks with UAE. I believe they got some capabilities to help us in that respect.. Whatever equipment comes in, we need to delegate it to the right authorities.” He added. Earlier this week, it was reported that out of 11,000 who attended the tabligh gathering, 743 cases have confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19
