Maba president goes on leave over five-point star flag incident

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Basketball Association (Maba) president Datuk Lua Choon Hann has taken voluntarily leave due to the controversy surrounding the incorrect display of the Jalur Gemilang during the opening ceremony of the Maba Under-15 Lum Mun Chak Cup.

Lua has accepted responsibility for the flag blunder and will allow the authorities to investigate the incident in which a wrongly designed flag that was displayed.

Meanwhile, MABA’s stance that the incident was accidental land an oversight on their part. The association has promised to take corrective action to improve procedures and train personnel to avoid any unwanted incidents in the future.

Lua’s position will be taken over by deputy president DatukTan Kang Yong in an acting president of the league.
