MIRI: The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that a timber company contractor has been found dead three days after he went missing while leading a team of logging workers into the deep jungle of Kapit district in central Sarawak.
The body was brought to Kapit town around 8am on Friday (May 3) morning and handed over to the police, Sarawak Bomba said in its latest updates. It was reported that his neck got caught up in some tree roots.
On May 2, Bomba Kapit teams started a search-and-rescue mission to locate the missing man, identified as Kanek Antok.
The contractor was reported missing in the jungles of Ulu Sungai Melatai at about 7pm on Wednesday (May 1). The Bomba station from the nearest town of Kapit deployed search teams to the site.
The workers said they found blood trails at the site, where he went missing.
A police report was lodged, while the Bomba search and rescue operation started.
