PETALING JAYA – Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad wonders why there is so much fuss about over former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng’s ashes being brought back to Malaysia.
He noted that Chin Peng is dead, like many others in the past, such as the Japanese, who also tortured Malaysia – were also forgotten.
“He (Chin Peng) is dead. He can’t do anything anymore, it is only his remains that are back,” He told Malaysian media.
He also added that in the past, the government had allowed former CPM leaders like Shamsiah Fakeh and Rashid Maidin to return without any fuss and that there’s a possibility that the issue is being used by parties to further their own agenda. Chin Peng died of Cancer in 2013 in a Bangkok hospital, a month before his 89th birthday. He was cremated according to Buddhist rites
