KUALA LUMPUR – Proton Holdings Bhd has stepped up to the plate by announcing plans to produce 60,000 face shields in 20 days to help the frontliner fight against the deadly pandemic.
Proton’s headquarters in Shah Alam has started their production on Monday (April 14, 2020) headed by their staff members who have volunteered their services.
Deputy CEO of Proton, Dato’ Radzaif Mohamed said: “Proton is driven by its responsibility to develop the local car industry and to support Malaysia and its people in their time of need. We are using our knowledge to produce a car to help produce PPE for our frontliners.”
The face shields will be delivered by batches and they will be working with the health ministry to help distribute the items.
Proton has also loaned 50 units of Proton X70 to the government during the Movement Control Order. Malaysia currently has a total of 4,987 positive cases with deaths climbing to 82.
