Saifuddin backs PM Mahathir, Modi never asked for Zakir

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said today that he can vouch for the statement made by Prime Minister Mahathir that Indian Prime Minister Modi did not make the request to extradite Islamic preacher Dr. Zakir Naik during their meeting in Russia.

According to Saifuddin, he was present when the two Asian leaders met at the 2019 Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Sept 5, in Vladivostok, Russia.

He described the comments against Mahathir cynical, misleading and far from the truth.

Dr. Mahathir had maintained that Modi did not make any request to extradite the Islamic controversial preacher.
