Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today sarcastically proposed that a new political party be formed to empower Malays who have not yet earned roles and financial benefits.
Dr Mahathir said in a brief blog post that he proposed forming this entity, as many Malays seem to like setting up political parties. He noted that he had already founded the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), which he said was now divided into two. He is aiming of such hypothetical party that should be enriching Malays who have yet to obtain benefits, with no membership dues necessary and allowing anybody who has yet to obtain such benefits to apply for membership or party roles such as president, vice president and vice president.
Such a group will improve Malaysia by naming them as officers in organizations explicitly set up to satisfy the need to give lucrative profits to those who already have benefits and wish to earn more,
In fact he has not further elaborated on his “suggestion,” but his blog post comes two days after his blog post on June 10, in which he criticized the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He added that several of the new Cabinet were named because they welcomed invitations to help Muhyiddin’s current government, implying that they were told what they needed before their assignments and that such vacancies were established in exchange for their support.
He had also claimed that nearly two-thirds of MPs supporting Muhyiddin were appointed as ministers and deputy ministers, while the rest were appointed as presidents of government-linked firms and institutions, including those he said were facing criminal charges in court.
