Syed Saddiq out of MACC after 11 hours questioning

KUALA LUMPUR – Former PPBM youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today who has been at the MACC Headquarters since this morning, said he was well treated during his 11-hour questioning by the agency.

This follows the The Teoh Beng Hock Trust for Democracy condemnation of holding the Muar MP for 11 hours saying the questioning is a form of “Psychological Torture”.

According to Saddiq, he has been invited by the MACC to assist in the investigation over an alleged RM250,000 in cash reported missing from his home. The questioning went until 9PM.

In a statement released by Saddiq, he said that he appreciated the concern of The Teoh Beng Hock Trust for Democracy and ensuring that there is transparency in the investigation of the Agency.

Saddiq however clarified that MACC officers has done their duties and responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the law.

He also urge the public to give the agency space to investigate as he belives justice will prevail in the end.

Earlier, the trust, condemned the agency’s method saying prolonged interrogation creates tremendous tension, jeopardises one’s mental health while allowing abuse of power while being in custody.

They then urged the government to end unnecessary and prolonged questioning, eliminate all form of torture to prevent the the tragedy of Teoh. In July 2009, Teoh was found dead on a rooftop of the Selangor MACC’s headquarters in Shah Alam after being called in for questioning that last for hours inside the building.
