Vell Paari quits as MIC secretary-general

PETALING JAYA: MIC secretary-general Vell Paari has resigned from his position.

His reason was to concentrate on his business.

Vell Paari said he had been planning to step down from the position for some time but had stayed on to ensure MIC was running smoothly.

The 54-year-old son of former MIC president S Samy Vellu, who was appointed the party’s secretary-general on Nov 14 last year, is succeeded by Johor state liaison chairman M Asojan.

Vell Paari was chief executive officer of Maika Holdings before the closure of the MIC company in 2009.
