KUALA LUMPUR – Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in-sisted that Narendra Modi did bring up the topic of Dr. Zakir Naik’s extradition with PM Mahathir despite claims that the country had to keep the controversial preacher because no one would want him.
“Let me make it very clear for the record. There is an extradition request in January 2018. We want Zakir Naik back and that is what we are working on.” the Minister said in an interview.
Yesterday, an Indian court issued another warrant against controversial Islamic preacher in relation to a money laundering case against him.
The India-born preacher is currently living in Malaysia, has permanent residency but was banned last Month by the Malaysian authorities from speaking publicly over his remarks that were deemed offensive against Malaysian Hindus and Chinese.
