PKR deputy presidential candidate Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali called on the party members to arrive early in the polls following overcast weather in several areas in Selangor this morning.
Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Economic Affairs Minister, said the party members who were eligible to vote especially in the Gombak area were advised to do so to launch the polling process.
“We hope members get out early as cloudy weather and rain may fall today, so go out early to vote,” he told reporters after polling for Gombak at the Sri Siantan Hall near here.
The branch voting only started 10:15 am after being delayed 15 minutes due to technical problems.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin hopes that the Central Election Committee (JPP) will be more prepared to avoid the disrupted polling process.
He said the PKR postponement incident at the branch this morning would give a negative picture of the party’s election process.
“As the reform party that started the e-ballot system, the JPP needs to be more prepared and improve the system from time to time,” he said.
The second phase of the Selangor PKR election involves seven of the 22 branches held today.
About 83,000 members are eligible to vote involving Puchong branches with 17,748 voters, Gombak (9,921), Petaling Jaya Utara (6,136), Petaling Jaya Selatan (7,906), Kuala Langat (14,121), Klang (12,998) and Selayang (15,104).
Besides Selangor, the voting process was also held in Perlis involving 5,490 eligible voters.
