PETALING JAYA: Police yesterday quizzed former 1Malaysia Development Berhad CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy for five hours over public talks he gave regarding the state investment arm prior to the May 9 polls.
Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that police were “thoroughly checking” the facts mentioned during the talks on 1MDB.
The source, according to the portal, did not rule out the possibility of Arul being charged with criminal breach of trust in future.
When contacted, Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Amar Singh confirmed that Arul had been questioned.
“We have taken his statement,” he told FMT.
Arul held a nationwide roadshow to explain what was going on in the scandal-plagued 1MDB to the public, which is now being investigated by the authorities.
Arul, who was appointed to head 1MDB in 2015, was sacked in June.
