Mahathir lashes out on India, ‘invaded, occupied’ Kashmir

NEW YORK – Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad on Friday said despite UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, India illegally annex the occupied territory.

The outspoken 94-year-old leader joins PM Imran Khan, Turkish President Erdogan and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who raised the issue at UN.

“There may be reasons for these actions. But it is still wrong, The problem must be solved by peaceful means.” the Malaysian PM said in an address to the UN General Assembly.

Prime Minister Modi and PM Mahathir met in Russia earlier this month on the Eastern Economic Forum and according to reports, Kashmir was the main topic during the bilateral meeting between the two leaders.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah told the reporters, “PM Modi clarified the position on Jammu and Kashmir while PM Mahathir explains Malaysian’s stand that all parties should adhere to the United Nations Resolutions.
