Tan Sri Law Hieng Ding, 82 years old, former science technology and environment minister, passed away on the Christmas day
His wife already confirmed the news to different media sources.
The former Sarikei MP and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy president held the ministerial post from 1999 to 2004.
Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, SUPP president, expressed sorrow about Law’s death and said that it is a very big loss for Malaysia.
Sim also added that Law was a very close friend to him and his family and he said: “We lost a great Sarawakian who served and fought for Sarawak in the Malaysian cabinet for 27 years (as the Science, Technology and Environment Minister from 1990 to 2004), as well a loyal SUPP party member and leader”
Law’s memorial services will be held at 2 churches on Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 10pm.
Law’s family also refused to accept any white packet which are presented to help chinese families at funerals to help in the expenses.
Law’s remains will be taken back to his hometown Sibu on Friday.
Law has been MP for 27 years. He had a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy and banking.
A lot of books were written by Law like “environmental governance in Malaysia, insights and reflections” which was published in 2003.
