Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has requested from all parties to support the efforts of the government in order to return Sabah and Sarawak status as one territory that has been specified in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
During a recent MA63 meeting the matter was discussed with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad said by Sabah Chief Minister.
After attending the Parti Warisan Sabah Chinese New Year celebrations, he added they brought up the status of Sabah and Sarawak as one territory and he also confident that the government will approve this matter because it has been stipulated in the constitution and it doesn’t need any vote.
He was commenting on a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, he said that the government would present a motion in Parliament next month in order to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak as one territory.
Many matters must be carried out to restore the rights of Sabah and Sarawak as stipulated in MA63 but it takes time.
Dr.Mahathir Mohamed had stated that the equal partner status of Sabah and Sarawak in Peninsular Malaysia would be restored during the Malaysia Day celebration in Kota Kinabalu last year.
