IPOH: Party deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and his allies were berated by Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak for walking out midway at the party congress in Melaka.
Azmin’s faction was not being courteous by leaving the congress halfway and later holding a press conference to slam Anwar, Farhat, who is also PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary, said.
“The congress has prepared a stage for leaders and grassroots to voice out their views.
“Halfway before it finished, they left to hold a press conference, which is not gentlemanly,” he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 9) evening.“Don’t insult the party and all the ‘reformasi’ members who have fought together.
“They didn’t even invite us for the dinner (held later after the congress by Azmin’s allies).
“On Sunday, Azmin expressed how he’s unhappy for being called a traitor during the dinner at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
He referred Farhash as someone whose name that does not sound Malaysian.
Farhat countered it with a statement, saying – it was not surprising to have uncommon names because Malaysia is a multi-racial country. “More so that I am of mixed blood.
“I was born in Ipoh, Perak, not Singapore,” he said, taking a dig at Azmin and party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin who were born in Singapore.
Zuraida, during the dinner, had also told those present that she and Azmin were prepared to be sacked.
The Housing and Local Government Minister also referred Farhash as a mafia for wearing a black shirt and songkok during the congress.
Farhat answered back, it was not wrong for someone to like the color.
“Is it wrong for people to like black until a person is called a mafia?“This person who supports a ‘cartel’ should be reprimanded.
“The term cartel is negative if we refer to the dictionary. Enough of ranting in the media.
“It is cheaper to come for meetings than doing it at home or at a hotel,” he added, taking a swipe at Azmin and his allies who have been skipping PKR meetings.
