KUALA LUMPUR: The whole incident started when Khairy jibe against Nga in the Dewan Rakyat earlier today after being asked to make his question to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng clearer.
“Do you have a comprehension problem, Taliban?” he asked.
While Khairy agreed to retract the statement after Nga ordered him to, he also did so while proceeding to mock the deputy speaker’s level of comprehension.
“I retract – do you have a comprehension problem, speaker?” he repeated.
Khairy is likely to have been referring to Nga’s remarks at an event in Taiping, where the Teluk Intan MP reportedly said that Malaysia could turn into a Taliban state if an Umno-PAS alliance gains control.
Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming is still demanding an apology from Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmaker Khairy Jamaluddin for calling him “Taliban”.
Nga issued a statement this afternoon in which he said while Khairy had complied with his order to retract the statement, the latter had tarnished the image of the Dewan Rakyat.
Nga also attributed Khairy’s “arrogant” remark as the reason why the House temporarily plunged into chaos.
