KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lokman Noor Adam says, the Umnodisciplinary board should take action against its former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein for his involvement in influencing party leaders to support the leadership of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
Hishammuddin’s action was clearly against the party’s supreme council decision not to have any cooperation with any component parties from Pakatan Harapan, the Umno supreme council member said.
“I hope no parties will defend him for his betrayal.”Umno should take action against him,” he said in a statement.
It was reported that the 22 Umno MPs, including Hishammuddin, had met with Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin in his house in Putrajaya late Monday (Nov 18) night.
Although not all 22 Umno lawmakers supported Dr. Mahathir, he asked Hishammuddin whether he realised such a “betrayal” would disappoint the Barisan Nasional and PAS machinery who had campaigned in the recently concluded Tanjung Piai by-election, Lokman said.
On Oct 30, he had lodged a complaint against Hishammuddin to the party’s disciplinary board, he added.
Hishammuddin had openly become Dr. Mahathir’s “middleman” to bring Umno leaders to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), without any action taken against him, Lokman said.
