NEW YORK – Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said he expects to remain as Malaysia’s leader before the next general election.
The 94-year-old Malaysian prime minister who returned to the top post in May last year has previously stated that he would give the Premiership after two years.
He repeatedly said he will step down once the country is “on an even keel”.
The 15th general election has to be called by 2023. Mr. Anwar Ibrahim is expected to succeed Mahathir as the next minister.
