PETALING JAYA – Prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad defended the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) and says it can be applied in the recent nationwide arrest on Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) linked elements.
The prime minister said police had briefed him on the matter and the action was done without the interference of his administration, denying claims that the recent arrests were made to weaken quarter.
“The police have briefed me and they gave me the reasons behind their action, and I am satisfied with them,” The prime minister told the reporters.
Oct 10, Malaysian police arrested several people, including two politicians, suspected of being involved with the terrorist group, LTTE.
All twelve arrested have been detained and currently being investigated under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
