PM Mahathir to discuss samurai bonds on Kyoto visit

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is expected to meet Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) governor Tadashi Maeda during his visit to Kyoto to discuss another possible issuance of yen-denominated bonds by Malaysia.

In March, Malaysia had released one round of samurai bonds worth a total of RM7.34 billion for 10 years, the largest sovereign bond guaranteed by JBIC. Malaysian ambassador to Japan Kennedy Jawan said the meeting is expected to take place on Sunday.
