Paul Yong Choo Kiong, the Perak state senator, appears content to stay an Independent despite quitting DAP in March.
The Tronoh assemblyman confirmed today that he has no intention of joining ex-DAP colleague and assemblyman Buntong A. Sivasubramaniam that is with Gerakan now. He stated that he had been invited by several parties to join them after he quit DAP. He don’t think it’s wrong for them to offer him this offer but he don’t intend to join any political party. He’ll even stay as an Individual.
Yong said he would remain an independent but under Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu he supports the current Perak Perikatan Nasional Government. Asked if he could change his mind in the future and choose a hand, Yong said only God has the solution. He shared that he left the DAP because of different perspective and was unable to cooperate with the administration of the party, and not because he was as allegedly hungry for power.
After he resigned, there were those who suspected him of threatening the state exco post again. And after the exco positions had been filled out, they suspected me of striving for the position of special advisor to the MB.
He added that has no position at the new state administration before if they will be talking about his current status today. The former committee chairman of the Perak housing, local government , public transportation, non-Islamic affairs and new villages reminded that people should stop slandering. He was also asked whether he will protect his Tronoh seat in the forthcoming general election, Yong said he hasn’t decided yet.
Yong, Sivasubramaniam, and Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim, assemblyman at Titi Serong, proclaimed themselves autonomous on March 9. Hasnul had been to Amanah before.
