KUALA LUMPUR: Umno’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was ordered to leave the Dewan Rakyat today for refusing to follow instructions and creating a disturbance.
The trouble began when Tajuddin (BN-Pasir Salak) became upset with Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub whom he said had not answered his questions and instead left the hall after handing over the matter to his deputy.
Deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming told Tajuddin to leave the Dewan after the latter refused to follow his instructions.
Nga then suspended Tajuddin from attending Dewan Rakyat proceedings for four days.
Tajuddin said this was the “true behaviour” of DAP leaders.
Several opposition MPs also questioned Nga’s decision.
Nga said he made the decision as Tajuddin had refused to leave the Dewan.
“My decision was consistent with Standing Order 44 (2) on members who do not behave appropriately or act in contempt of the house,” he said.
“I gave him three chances but he refused to follow instructions.”
Shahidan Kassim (BN-Arau) stated no punishment was given to Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang when he refused to leave the hall during his time in the opposition.
