NEW DELHI – India surprised Qatar in their bid for their first 2022 World
Cup Qualifying match with a shocking 0-0 draw in Doha against Asian champions
Qatar in 2022.
Cricket is king in India with football only a distant second in the list of the country’s favourite sports, and most of the local fans do not pay much attention to the country’s football league, instead preferring to watch the English Premier League.
Qatar, ranked 41 places higher than India were denied by India’s
absolute focused defending and superb goalkeeping from Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
Qatar dominated with haaving 63% possession and having 13 shots on target but Sandhu was hands-on for the job. Qatar still tops the group with four points from two matches, one ahead of Oman and Afghanistan.
