PETALING JAYA: National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are on the roll as they knocked out yet another “giant” to reach the All-England semi-finals.
World No. 18 Aaron-Wooi Yik defeated 2017 world champions Liu Cheng-Zhang Nan of China 21-19, 17-21, 21-12, securing their second last four appearance of the season.
They have also made it to the same stage at the
Malaysian Masters in January.
Aaron-Wooi Yik will be playing their next match
against Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
Should Aaron-Wooi Yik advance into the final, they will become the first Malaysian pair to do so since Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong in 2011.
Sadly, it was the end of the road for the the other national doubles, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong who were ousted in the quarter-finals by their Indonesian opponents.
