It is a historic day for Afghanistan: Asghar Afghan

This was the day they’d been searching to play for , for quite a while . After Mohammad Nabi attained himself a PSL contract with the Quetta Gladiators in 2016 , paving the opportunity for several of his compatriots to barge into the perfect T20 leagues around the world , he stated that the next step was to break into this quite exclusive group of Test-playing nations and make a mark there.

In a little over 3 years , Afghanistan are here . They have tasted success in just their second game in the format , when it took the likes of New Zealand and India 45 and 25 games respectively to destroy their Test ducks .

Their seven-wicket victory may have come against Ireland , a other newbie to the arena , but attempt telling that to captain Asghar Afghan , who instantly termed it “a historic day for Afghanistan”

“Playing Test cricket was our dream and today we played our second Test and we won the game,” Asghar said at the post-match presentation on Monday (March 18). “It is a historic day for Afghanistan, for Afghanistan people, for our team, for our cricket board.”
