KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia face another uphill battle in the Sudirman Cup quarter-finals. Lee Zii Jia and Co have found themselves having to take on Group A winners, Japan.
After losing 5-0 to China on Sunday and beating India 3-2 on Tuesday, Malaysia finished second in Group D. China, who scored a 5-0 win over India on Wednesday, topped the group.
The host nation will play Group B runners-up, Denmark next for a place in the semi-finals. The other quarter-final ties will see Group B winners, Indonesia play Group C runners -up, Taiwan.
Group C winners and defending champions South Korea will play Group A runners-up, Thailand.
Only the top two teams from each group qualify for the last eight.
