Arsenal is bracing themselves for an injury scare of their prolific striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He was seen limping down the tunnel following their victory over Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Aubameyang started alongside Alexandre Lacazette in attack but
the Gabon international was unable to score and missed a good chance to put
Arsenal in firmer control of the tie. Aubameyang needed to be supported by two
helpers as he hobbled towards Arsenal’s dressing room.
Unai Emery could now be sweating over Aubameyang’s availability for their Premier League clash against Watford next Monday after the striker was seen limping down the tunnel after the full-time whistle.
Aaron Ramsey finished off a brilliant Arsenal move to open the scoring in the 14th minute before the Gunners doubled their lead before half-time after Lucas Torreira’s strike took a heavy deflection off Kalidou Koulibaly.
Emery will be hoping that Aubameyang will be able to recover quickly given Arsenal’s congested fixture schedule in the next few weeks. After playing Watford on Monday, the Gunners are in action just three days later as they play the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Napoli.
Arsenal will have just another three-day window of recovery before they face Crystal Palace a week on Sunday, and they will then travel to Wolves the following Wednesday.
