WASHINGTON – The global climate strike is expected to be one of the largest environmental protests in history. Millions of people around the world are expected to walk out of school and work on Friday to participate in the climate strike.
More than 5,000 youth in 156 countries showed their support onFriday. Demanding government action to end dependency on fossil fuels. The strike is led by the 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg.
The strike is first of several events planned surrounding the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York this month.
Officials from different countries are expected to propose new solutions to combat climate change at the daylong summit at theUnited Nations.
