A foreign oil tanker accusing of smuggling oil in the Persian Gulf has been seized by Iran paramilitary Revolutionary Guard forces
The unnamed foreign tanker went missing over the weekend in the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic waterway that controls access to the Persian Gulf and the oil that flows through it.
A video posted on a news website showed Iranian boats circling and then closing in on a small tanker. UAE officials have denied any association with the Panama-flagged tanker, its owners or its crew but shipping records suggest is owned by a UAE-based tanker.
